Christian Artist David Crowder Requests Prayer Following Unexpected Surgery

Christian music artist David Crowder has canceled some upcoming shows after he recently revealed that he "had to have emergency surgery" after breaking his leg. "I'm not near as athletic as I thought I was, I've broken my leg and had to have emergency surgery, including some plates and screws," he wrote in an Instagram post last Wednesday, which included a picture of him recovering in a hospital bed. "[I]'m on the mend and we will figure out how to get back there as soon as we can! Thanks so much for the prayers."

Crowder also tagged fellow Christian recording artist Forrest Frank, who recently claimed he was miraculously healed after breaking his back two weeks ago.

In a video on Facebook by Appalachian Fair in Gray, Tennessee, where Crowder was supposed to perform on August 18 but has since been replaced by Big Daddy Weave, the recording addressed his injury explaining that he is recuperating and jokingly said that surgeons performed "basic carpentry, carpentry for bones" to repair what was damaged, CBN News reported.

"Listen," he said. "I cannot wait to get there."

"We're gonna be back at Appalachian Fair because you're my people and I gotta see you soon," he asserted.

Appalachian Fair stated in the video caption that Crowder's doctors have advised him that he cannot travel for a month due to this "unforeseen accident and impending surgery."

It is not specifically detailed as to why Crowder broke his leg.

Crowder was also recently nominated for three Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards this year, including pop/contemporary album of the year for his album Exile, rock/contemporary recorded song of the year for his song "Grave Robber" featuring Zach Williams, and short form music video of the year (concept) for his song "Someone Prayed." The awards show is scheduled to take place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, on Oct. 7.
